WELCOME!

The GSAS Student Council (GSC) serves as the official representative body for the students of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) at Harvard University. Through elected representatives and committee members, the GSC:

  • Supports student groups and individuals by funding events, student-led activities, conference travel, and summer research 
  • Advocates for students with the GSAS Deans and administration
  • Recognizes students and faculty for exceptional work

FUNDING

The GSC supports students with funding for a variety of activities

Graduate Student Group Funding The GSC provides funding for recognized GSAS student organizations to host events, plan extracurricular activities, and plan public service programs throughout the year.  

Conference and Research Grants The GSC provides competitive grants for students to attend conferences and conduct summer research.

GSAS Mini-courses During 手机shadowsock, the GSC sponsors student-led mini-courses by providing funding for students to organize a course on the topic of their choice. 

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

  • Attend our monthly meetings: First Wednesday of the month, September through May. at 6:30 p.m. at the GSAS Student Center, in the Graduate Student Lounge
  • Become a Departmental Representative
  • Join one of the standing and ad hoc committees 

RECOGNITION

Each year, the GSC selects Commencement Marshals to help organize the procession to Harvard Yard for the morning exercises and lead the graduating class into Tercentenary Theatre. The GSC also recognizes faculty who go out of their way to mentor graduate students through the Everett Mendelsohn Excellence in Mentoring Awards
